Australian based, our client is a world class engineering, construction and maintenance company with business units in civil and marine, mechanical, electrical, pipelines, tunnelling and underground services.
The company employs about 5,000 personnel and operates throughout Australia; New Zealand, the Pacific Islands; South East Asia and the Middle East. The broad geographic spread and service offering means the company has delivered infrastructure projects across a diversity of markets and heavy industry sectors, including civil infrastructure; industrial plants, mining and metals; oil and gas; petrochemical and chemical; power; transportation and water, on a self-perform basis.
They are currently looking for a Tunnel Engineer to a project initially in Greymouth, West Coast New Zealand. The Project Engineer would ideally have a Tunnel/Mining mix of experience including NATM (Shotcrete) and civil concrete work experience; experience in Management; programming and sub contract control; understanding of design for rock support; understanding of financial control of projects.
The project has been underway for over a year and is due for completion by August 08, Our client has heaps of work thereafter in tunnelling in NZ and other broader civil opportunities in the Pacific.
The Project is a 2.4 km drill and blast portal tunnel to a coal seam, plus 100m 4m Diameter ventilation shaft plus 400m of pit bottom drives and concrete works for slurry system. project is valued at NZ$50 million. Start date mid-late January.
Basic salary NZ$ 75K -90K plus 15% site allowance plus housing, vehicle, medical and super(pension).
