Service for the TBM manufacturer
It is my experience, that the client of a TBM manufacturer does not wish to find and develop clever mechanical and electronical systems, that will allow him to guide his TBM; the civil works contractor wishes to drill a hole according to his contractual requirements, with a minimum of costs and effort.
I see the development going to integrated systems.
On a TBM, the Guidance System (GS, answering the question: what is the position of the TBM compared to the design alignment ? ) must be integrated from the earliest possible moment on into the design of the TBM.
In this context, i am offering the necessary service, to integrate the Guidance into the concept of the TBM from the beginning of construction.

The installation of a new TBM is generally a challenge in logistic and work preparation:
Specialists from different companies out off different countries, with different working ethics,approach and languages, are pressganged to perform in short time a difficult technical task: There is simply not the time to train people on the job.
A TBM installation is a tough job for experienced people, with the necessary technical know how and professional approach.
I am offering an overall survey service, to cover the critical time from start of the TBM installation to the end of the learning curve, in general when the end of the back-up is passing the portal.

Break-in and supervision to the end of the learning curve of the TBM crew:
Design of First Order survey brackets
Calibration of break-in GS, defining of the horizontal and vertical off-set between center of cutter-head and best fit center of erected ring
Determination of Crab-angle and Pitch, with implementation into GS.
Installation and zero-readings of monitoring installations of rings, to gain data about short- and long-time settlement behavior

My experience allows me to cover the full range of surveying tasks for TBMs as well as NATM-tunnels.
My Know How derives from very different projects, from off shore excavation to projects in the Alpine mountains, with particular expertise in the control of long tunnel projects.
I offer the follow up survey of the TBM excavation, by very closely following the excavation :
Daily check of Guidance System · Maintenance of GS, sensors and back-up systems
Early checks of ring positions in the back up ( Preliminary as built )
Permanent check of viability of second order bracket system
Shift work
Keeping of drive-records, permanent adjustments due to changes of Crab and Pitch
Trouble shooting in case of alignment incidents and out of tolerance situations.
Installation and maintenance of first order benchmark system, during excavation, when necessary :
Design of concept for first order benchmark system ( permanent fix-points )
Design of first order brackets, with Gyromat-facility
Design of first order benchmarks, and monument plates
Design and measurement of surface portal to portal first order survey nets, optionally with GPS strengthening (with help of a subcontractor).
First order precise leveling.
Checks of underground first order nets, with flying traverses, with bracket systems and with free stations.
Fully independent checks of underground first order nets, including Gyroscope - measurements (with help of a subcontractor).
Connections from surface to underground nets, geodetic and by means of optical or mechanical precise plumbing.
Break through analysis and - determination
Permanent quality control, Wriggle :
Checks of the intrados lining with templates ( dummy structure gauges )
Preliminary- and final as built ( Wriggle ) of tunnel lining erected with prefabricated elements, measured conventionally or photogrammetrically.
Photogrammetric documentation of lining for cracks, steps, lips, birdmouthing, yawning
